Each course is crafted for an intimate virtual classroom size (up to 12 students) to offer individualized direction for each participant.

  • Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
  • Instructor: LaDonna Garner, M.A. 
  • Cost: $35-165 per each Adult participant
  • Virtual Classroom (Evening Sessions): 6:30 p.m. CST to 8:00 p.m. CST
  • Class Day: Thursdays
  • Workshops provide each session for 1 – 1/2 hours of evening instruction, discussion, skill building, and networking.
  • Each participant will have personalized assistance from the instructor regarding their research goals.
  • Login registration information for entry into the Zoom classroom will be forwarded after your purchase.
  • Workbooks and/or handouts will be forwarded as PDFs via email 7 to 14 days before the start of each session.
  • Sessions will be recorded for participants on-demand viewing access to review and/or complete assignments.
  • Students are required to, at minimum, download the RootsMagicTM* program and install it before the start of class on their computers. While there is a demo version, the purchased version is recommended to make use of all its tools.

Students who complete this course will be able to apply techniques learned to:

  • Draft and implement a research goal map to begin and/or revitalize current projects starting with known information and documentation to build a family tree.
  • Use family history software* to record and publish their family tree & stories.
  • Methodically determine and tackle brick walls for ancestors and family branches.
  • Research tips and strategies to further family history through online resources.
